Ikirwa has no fundraising staff. Everything the school has built beyond its first four classrooms has come through the organisations below, each of them run by people who have visited Midawe and stayed involved.
Ikirwa School Project (United States)
A 501(c)(3) non-profit run by volunteers in Juneau, Alaska, established to raise funds and recruit volunteers for the school. Gifts from US donors through the Project are tax-deductible.
Midawe Hope e.V. (Germany)
A registered German association whose purpose is to give children from poor backgrounds access to education. It arranges sponsorships, supports construction and keeps regular contact with the school’s management.
Moyo Elimu e.V. (Germany)
Founded in 2022 by Laurin and Lorenz after Laurin spent two months teaching at Ikirwa. Its first appeal financed most of the school kitchen. The association now has more than 60 members. Its name means a heart for education.
Neeko Tours (Tanzania)
The safari and climbing company founded by Gasper Mbise. Charity climbs and volunteer trips arranged through Neeko have funded much of the school and introduced most of its supporters to it.

The vetted international giving platform that hosts the school’s project page and handles card donations from anywhere in the world.
Becoming a Friend
Sponsors, donors, climbers and volunteers all become Friends of Ikirwa and receive the school’s updates. If your company or school would like to partner with Ikirwa, please write to us.
