Volunteers are part of how the school grows. We are looking for people who want to work alongside our staff, not replace them, and who can commit to at least a month. We help with accommodation in the village and can combine your stay with a safari or climb through Neeko Tours.
Roles we need
- Nursery and lower-primary teaching assistants with early-years experience, one month to a year, to model modern classroom methods: independent study, collaborative learning, alternatives to rote teaching.
- English as a second language teachers, one to three months, working with staff and adult learners as well as pupils.
- School nurse, part time, with public health and child wellbeing experience.
- Librarian or computer lab technician to set up and run the library and computer room.
- Carpenters to build bookshelves, teacher desks, benches and cupboards as classrooms are added.
- Artists to design and paint murals and decorate classrooms.
- Gardeners and farmers for the school garden that feeds the kitchen. No experience needed, just a love of growing food.
Practicalities
Volunteers cover their own flights, insurance and living costs. Formal longer-term placements are available through partner volunteer organisations. A liability waiver is required. Police or background checks are required for anyone working with children.
